An Age of Globalization (1450 to 1750 CE)
Looking at this era as the first era of globalization is fitting: the Age of Exploration/Colonialism-- the time during which European powers (Spain, Portugal, France, England, and the Dutch Republic) traveled both East and West and colonized areas, clearly connecting the world. This colonialism gave rise to widespread systems of labor (indentured servitude and slavery especially) and opened up new trading systems (Columbian Exchange, Triangle Trade, Middle Passage). Simply, all parts of the world come into closer contact. Of course, this is also an era of sometimes dramatic philosophical change-- Europe's Renaissance, Scientific Revolution, and Enlightenment are all a part of this period as well.
